Based on the Tchaikovsky opera "The Nutcracker" this egg, by the famous Wallace Silversmiths, has a magnificent translucent ruby red enameling over a guilloche wavy backround.

The silver layered finish is set with jewel cut Austrian gemsones in Emerald and Ruby colors.

Measures approx 5.5" tall by 7" wide.

Inside opens to reveal a satin lined inner compart ment, with a scene featuring all the characters from the opera, with the central figure being the young girl holding the nutcracker man aloft.

As the quality mechanical key wound movement plays, The Waltz from the "Nutcracker Suite", the girl CLARA dances and twirls around in entrancing movements.

When opened, it reveals a white satin-lined top and a mirrored surface upon which Clara magnetically dances around the Prince, Snow Queen, Mouse King, and Sugar Plum Fairy to music from the "Nutcracker Suite."
